La Frette-sur-Seine, known as the Pearl of the Val d’Oise
A village nestled in its meander in the Seine
Stretching from the Seine up the valley’s northern slope, the village of La Frette-sur-Seine has kept its character all along its three kilometres of quays, making it an exceptional spot. It has long been, and remains, a welcoming place for artists. The original settlement arose where two short ‘valleuses’ or ‘thalwegs’ join the great river. The land here slopes up to a plateau looking across to Saint-Germain-en-Laye Forest.
